Virtual Externship for Educators

Virtual Externship for Educators Program

The Orchard Foundation is offering a unique professional development opportunity that connects the classroom to the workplace virtually.

The Virtual Externship for Educators program allows educators to learn through a virtual experience using the NEPRIS platform. Participants will learn about trends, skill requirements, and opportunities in business and industry in the region, as well as how virtual externships can work for both educators and students. Virtual Externship for Educators participants will also learn how to implement the Jump Start Virtual Internship experiences for students using Authentic Workplace Experience Resources.

The 5-day (half-day) virtual externship program provides an in-depth understanding of the NEPRIS platform and how virtual technology can be used in the classroom. Participants connect to the program from their own computer, with sessions led by experts in Jump Start and industry professionals from across the nation. Participants will receive the NEPRIS training and license, and a per hour stipend at the district stipend rate.

The dates for the Virtual Externship for Educators program are June 19-23, 2017.  Full details about the program, participant eligibility and the application form can be found by clicking on the link to the program in the "Upcoming Classes" event box in the right column. The deadline to apply for the Virtual Externship for Educators is Friday, April 28, 2017.
