Trainers will present workshops in Central Louisiana
The Orchard Foundation is looking for individuals with education or early childhood development expertise to serve as part-time contracted instructors for its Read to Soar and Math to Build On early literacy programs.
Read to Soar and Math to Build On are free, eight-session early literacy workshops for children ages 5 and under and their parents or caregivers. These family sessions help develop and strengthen a culture of reading at home by educating parents, building a child's home library, and increasing awareness about community resources to help ensure the child has the tools for school success.
The responsibilities of the instructors - called Early Childhood Literacy Specialists - include facilitating workshops according to an identified curriculum, developing community partnerships and program locations within assigned parishes, and recruiting participants. A job description can be found in the "Documents to download" section below.
This is a part-time contracted position. Early Childhood Literacy Specialists are independent contractors that provide services to The Orchard Foundation subject to an agreed-upon scope of work. They are not employees. Travel to participating parishes may be required. Tentative hours could include late afternoons, evenings and possibly weekends. Instructors must have reliable transportation.
Phone inquiries will not be accepted. To apply, please submit a resume to email@example.com, or mail to The Orchard Foundation, ATTN: Literacy Specialist, 1101 Fourth Street, Suite 101C, Alexandria LA 71301.
